The Assessment Department also administers partial tax exemptions, as allowed under the State Real Property Tax Law, to property owners who meet certain eligibility requirements.

Our office has a number of brochures available, which outline the requirements for each exemption, and the application procedures for each.

Exemption application forms are also available online by accessing the NYS ORPTS website: http://www.tax.ny.gov/pit/property/exemption/index.htm

A few of the most common exemptions available are:

  • STAR (School TAx Relief)
  • Veterans
  • Senior Citizens With Limited Income
  • Persons With Disabilities And Limited Income
  • Business Investment

All exemption applications must be filed in the Assessor’s Office, per NYS Real Property Tax Law, no later than taxable status date of March 1st unless otherwise noted.
