Hunting and Fishing licenses are available for purchase at the Town Clerk’s office. These are issued through a statewide computerized licensing system called DECALS.

The licensing year runs from October 1st through September 30th. The majority of our sales occur during the last 2 weeks in August and runs through the end of September. During that period of time hunters can purchase their hunting license and they can also participate in a drawing to obtain a deer management permit. The most common type of license sold during this period of time is the Sportsmen’s license. The Sportsmen’s license entitles you to hunt big and small game, to fish, and includes entry in the deer management permit drawing.

Persons purchasing conservation licenses must furnish proof of residency (driver’s license) and proof of eligibility for the licenses that they are purchasing.

We accept cash, checks, VISA and MasterCard.

Fishing licenses are required for residents over the age of 16 who intend to fish in the waters of New York State. The fee for the most common fishing license is $29.00. Resident senior citizens (70 years of age) can purchase their license at a reduced cost of $5.00.

More information can be obtained at the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
